Allens Emprioum

About Us

Founded in South Africa in 1944, by noted raconteur George Allen, Allen’s Emporium quickly built a reputation for exquisite, fine collectables and eccentric follies

With a small fleet of distinctive vehicles, George Allen and his sons toured the colony, collecting items to be sold at their celebrated quarterly Allen’s Emporium auctions.

The business was moribund after George’s tragic death in 1966, but many years later, his eldest and arguably most handsome and modest of four sons, Mike, came to Australia to start a new life in another colony. He came with a young family and a wagon load of trading goods. Thus was Allen’s Emporium was reborn.

Since then, Allen’s Emporium has gone from strength to strength. Specialising in pens, watches, antiquarian books, objects d’art and desirable “stuff”, it has built an international reputation and is recognised as one of the most respected procurers of collectable objects  in the known world.

Today, advances in technology mean that Mike no longer has to travel the length and breadth of the land or make such frequent trips across the seas to maintain the family business.

We hope you enjoy browsing through the myriad items Allen’s Emporium has on offer.  Please remember, if you don’t find exactly what you are seeking, please contact Mike Allen, a prince amongst men, who will gladly source the item for you or place a notice on the website to alert other collectors and like minded opportunists of your interest.
